Typing on the Shaker Solo Keypad

Typing on the Shaker Solo may be strange at first, but it’s easy when you get the hang of it!

Keypad Layout of the Shaker Solo

The letters and special characters are printed in three-letter sequences on the numeric buttons as shown in the image below. The numbers 0 through 9 are arranged in three-by-three rows with the zero key placed at the bottom.

You would need to use the alpha-numeric keyboard on e.g. inputting the wifi password or when using the custom reference feature on your Shaker Solo

The keyboard has 3 modes and can be cycled through by using the up arrow;

  • 0-9
  • abc
  • ABC

Inputting numbers Using the Keypad (0-9 Mode)

  1. Look for the mode selection options in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.
  2. Press the up arrow button to cycle through the three available modes.
  3. Keep cycling until you reach the 0-9 mode.
  4. You're all set to start inputting numbers!
  5. To enter numbers, use the numbered keypad buttons to input the relevant digits.

 

Inputting Capital Letters using the Keypad (ABC Mode)

  1. Look for the mode selection options in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.
  2. Press the up arrow button to cycle through the three available modes.
  3. Keep cycling until you reach the ABC-mode.
  4. You're all set to start inputting the capital letters!
  5. To enter letters, use the keypad buttons with the relevant letters.

Here's how you can input the word "SHAKER S" using our system.

  • Ensure that you're in ABC-mode.
  • Press the 7 key four times to cycle through P, Q, R, and finally, S. Wait for a second.
  • Press the 4 key twice to cycle through G and H. Wait for a second.
  • Press the 2 key once to input A. Wait for a second.
  • Press the 5 key twice to cycle through J and K. Wait for a second.
  • Press the 3 key twice to cycle through D and E. Wait for a second.
  • Press the 7 key three times to cycle through P, Q, and R. Wait for a second.
  • Press the 0 key twice to cycle through 0 and " ". Note that the space may not be immediately obvious, so wait for a second.
  • Finally, press the 7 key four times to cycle through P, Q, R, and S. Wait for a second.
  • And voila! You've successfully inputted the word "SHAKER S".

TIP: If you've made a mistake and need to go back and remove the last character you've inputted, simply press the "yellow arrow" key. Keep pressing it to continue to remove characters one by one, in reverse order.

Entering Uppercase (Capital Letters) and Lowercase Letters using the Keypad (ABC Mode)

Here's how you can input the word "Solo123" using our system:

  • Ensure that you're in ABC-mode.
  • Press the 7 key four times to cycle through P, Q, R, and finally, S, and wait for a second.
  • Change the mode using the up arrow to abc-mode.
  • Next, press the 6 key three times to cycle through m,n and o, and wait for a second.
  • Press the 5 key three times to cycle through j, k and l, and wait for a second.
  • Press the 6 key three times to cycle through m,n and o, and wait for a second.
  • Change the mode using the up arrow to 0-9-mode.
  • Enter the numbers as they appear on the numbered keypad buttons, 1, 2 and 3.
  • You're all set! The word "Solo123" should now be displayed on the screen.

Entering Special Characters using the Keypad

Here is an overview of how to input special characters with the Solo keypad.

Note: Special characters can be used in any of the 3 modes, which are ABC, abc, and 0-9 modes.

  1. To enter special characters use the number 1 key.
  2. Press the number 1 key once to input the number "1".
  3. Press the number 1 key multiple times to cycle through the different special characters available.
  4. Wait for a second after you have reached the special character you want for it to register on the screen.
  5. When you've found the special character you want to use, simply move on to the next character in your text input.

Remember to double-check your input to ensure that the correct special character has been selected before moving on to the next character.
