iK Insurance Data Sharing Policy

This article outlines the Data sharing policy between iKhokha & Monitor as it relates to iK Insurance

When you engage in this cover, you entrust the parties disclosed in the statutory notice document (“us, we, our”) with your personal information. This statement describes how we may collect, use, share and otherwise process your personal information, which is in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (“POPIA”). The terms used in this statement should be interpreted according to the corresponding definitions contained in POPIA.

The provision of your personal information is voluntary, however should you not provide personal information necessary for the activation of the insurance cover then the cover and related services will not be granted to you.

Your personal information may be collected, disclosed and processed by third parties other than us, which is necessary for the provision of services relating to your insurance, including but not limited to the administration of your policy, processing of claims, collecting insurance premiums, risk management and creditworthiness. Third parties may also include those contracted parties who we and you may engage with during the product distribution and activation process, including third parties engaged in the digital collecting and processing of your information relating to the insurance cover and related services. We will ensure that any third party that we pass your personal information to agrees to treat your information with the same level of protection as we are obliged to.

We will only share your personal information with your consent or where we have a legal or contractual duty to give the information to that third party including other insurers and re-insurers.

We are entitled to communicate with you electronically about any changes on your insurance cover and related services.

You have the right to know what personal information we hold about you. Enquiries in this regard, including requests to update, correct or delete your personal information, may be directed to us as per the contact details provided in the statutory notice. Steps will be taken to confirm your identity before providing details of your personal information. We are entitled to charge a fee for this service and will let you know what it is at the time of your request.

We have the right to amend our privacy statement at any time.

If you believe that we have misused your personal information, you are required to first attempt to resolve any concerns with us.
